Safety Week-by-Week

January 7 - January 12

The main goal for this week was to maintain safety amongst the team, builders especially, now that we have started the chassis.  While looking through the different tools and doing inventory, the main goal of Tuesday was to make sure none of the parts were broken. Fortunately, we accomplished this.  On Wednesday, I actually worked on the field measurements, and safety glasses were worn at all times.  On Thursday, the goal was to find a safety incentive that would motivate the team members to take safety precautions.  Today, we found out what different pieces were needed in order to set up the playing field.  On Friday, the goal was to finish cutting the PVC pipes for the field and to be able to set up the field by the end of the meeting.  This was accomplished as well.  On Saturday, the goal was to make sure no one got hurt and to finish the Safety Infraction Chart.  This was done, but unfortunately someone got hurt while working with the transmissions.  It was a minor injury and luckily he was alright.

January 14 - January 19

The weekly goal was the same as last week’s goal: to keep safety amongst the team.  On Monday, the obvious goal was to make sure no one got hurt and for everyone to follow the safety precautions.  There is an improvement in the safety attitude of our team.  Safety glasses are being worn voluntarily. Also the tools have been separated again in order for us to have an easy access to them.  The goal for tomorrow is to find out what kind of arm to use.  On Tuesday, the goal for today is to find out about Los Angeles and the area in which we would be staying if we decided to go on the Vex Competition trip.  Also, today we were hoping to work on the web page.  Today, we accomplished finding freewebs to use for the construction of our website.  We continued on working on the website and researching on Wednesday and Thursday.  I wasn’t able to attend the meetings on Friday, Saturday, and Monday due to another arrangement.  During my absence, Spencer, Danielle, and Chad took over for those days as safety monitors.

January 20 - January 26

This week, we were fortunate to not have any accidents except for that of one of our builders. It was a minor injury. He just scraped his finger and luckily that was it.  The Safety Team has now converged under the subdivision of the electric team headed by Timothy.  No other accidents have occurred and so far, everyone has been cooperative in using their safety glasses. WAY TO GO TEAM!

 January 27-February 2

This week, we have continued on our path of safety. There have been no injuries and almost everyone has been cooperative in following the safety rules.  Putting on safety goggles has changed from being a hassle to an absolute "must".  We are extremely proud of the team! KEEP IT UP! :)

 February 3-February 9

This week is our second to the last week. We have been really good about putting our safety glasses on.  As a team we have learned to wear our safety goggles at all times, even when we aren't doing something dangerous. Everyone has been really good about following the safety precautions. Keep up the good work team!

 February 10 - February 18

This week, the team was fairly acceptable along the lines of being safe. We are accustomed to wearing our safety glasses, but we have had a few minor incidents along the way.  It's crunch time and we are all scrambling to get it done.  There was a minor injury to a builder this week, but everyone has been cooperative and helping those who have gotten hurt.  As long as we work on it day by day, we should be able to reach our goal of being SAFE! Nice work team, let's have fun with this last week. :)
